I Can’t Get Your Yahoo Password

When I started this blog my first post was regarding an issue I was having with my Yahoo login. Apparently someone had gotten hold of my Yahoo account and changed the password so I could not access the account. The post, and it’s accompanying updates, chronicles my experience in trying to regain control of the account. The three post series ranks in the top 13 most read posts on the blog and are definitely the most commented on.

The problem is that, though most of the comments are constructive, many are from people asking me to help them get control of their Yahoo accounts back again. I simply cannot do this. I am not a hacker nor do I work for Yahoo. I am just a Yahoo user who lost control of his account and wanted to relate the story of how I managed to get it back so that others may benefit from the method I used.

The story was not meant to advertise services for getting Yahoo account passwords. There are many sites that offer such services (despite the questionable and probably illegal practice of doing so) but this is not one of them.

I worked together with Yahoo following their process for account authentication in order to get my account back. I had no inside information nor help from friends on the inside. What I have done can be done by anybody who is legitimately trying to get control of a lost account.

If you want to get your password back and have been unsuccessful then read all three parts of my story and the comments. You may not be able to do it the same way I did but maybe between my story and the comments you’ll hit on something to try. Hint: it doesn’t take a lot of effort to find Yahoo’s corporate phone number, call it and ask them how to get control of your account back. That is, as long as your effort is legitimate.
