Naming Our Driveway

I’m listening to the latest episode of You Look Nice Today and the discussion about naming houses and cars and things brought to mind a story from when we bought our house.

The survey of our property used the words “Macadam Drive” to label the driveway. We were amazed that the township actually named our driveway. For weeks we jokingly referred to the driveway as Macadam Drive.

A few weeks later I discovered that macadam is a type of pavement made of layers of compacted broken stone and asphalt. So when the surveyor wrote “Macadam Drive” he actually meant a driveway made of macadam. We had a good laugh over that.
