Leporte Drops FBomb on Arrington
I’ve written critically about Leo Leporte a few times in the past. I don’t think he’s objective (usually) and find that he states opinions that are either slanted either his own personal preferences (I’ve heard him make fun of Microsoft for implementing Windows features but then applaud Apple for implementing the same exact features on the Mac) or toward the direction of the aim of the show. However, I would never accuse him of slanting his opinion of a product based on how he acquired it.
This is exactly what Michael Arrington of TechCrunch did on Saturday when Leporte started to talk about the Palm Pre. Arrington, apparently upset that he didn’t get a review unit but other people had, accused Leporte of saying nice things about the Pre because he was given a (free) review unit from Palm. Leporte got so upset that he killed the stream, vowed not to work with Arrington again and used expletives in a short, irate rant. (For those who don’t normally watch or listen to Leporte it is very uncommon to hear him curse. In fact this is the first time I can remember hearing it.)
I don’t blame Leporte for getting upset. I don’t think Leporte slants his opinion based on who gives him review units. In fact he’s said several times that he usually will buy something rather than take a review unit so there could be no doubt that his opinions are his own. Especially where the Pre is concerned. He’s said several times over the last few weeks that he is no longer happy with his iPhone and would try to get a Pre as soon as he could. Arrington was clearly off base here.
The video, however, is entertaining so enjoy.

RIP David Carradine
Actor David Carradine, of Kung Fu fame, was found hanged in his hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand. I’ve seen a few episodes of Kung Fu and seen Carradine in several other productions (Kill Bill, among others). I was happy to have shared Carradine with my daughter when he appeared in an episode of Lizzie McGuire on the Disney channel opposite his half brother, Robert Carradine who played Hilary Duff’s dad. (It’s embarrassing to admit that I ever watched Lizzie McGuire. Amazing what we do for our children.)
