NJ Tax Rebate Woes

I was reading in this morning’s paper that the state of New Jersey has pushed back the deadline for filing for property tax rebates until October. (It had originally been August 15.) The reason was that people are having problems out the forms. As a New Jersey home owner I filled one of these forms out recently. Although it was written in and odd way I found it to be pretty easy. Almost all of the information needed to fill out the form can be found in the state income tax forms that had to be submitted (in most cases) back on April 15. That means the hard work of calculating the numbers should already have been done. In the event that you filed for extensions on your income taxes and as a result have not completed them yet the property tax rebate form includes instructions for figuring out the information you need to provide. What’s so tough? I don’t get it.

Publish to Facebook Plugin Now Available

I mentioned last week about the dearth of Facebook related plugins for WordPress. I’m doing my part to improve that situation by releasing my second Facebook plugin in less than a week. The Publish To Facebook plugin adds functionality to push posts and/or pages to your Facebook Mini-Feed as you publish them on your WordPress blog. Check out this page for more details.

Add To Facebook Plugin Now Available

I was browsing some RSS feeds when I saw some articles had a “Share on Facebook” link. I thought it would be neat to add such a link to my blog so people could add my articles to their Mini-Feed. And so the Add To Facebook plugin was born. Check out this page for more details.

No Credit Card Numbers For Trials

I’m getting a little tired of websites with subscription services wanting my credit card number for a free trial. The scam here (yes, I know many reputable sites do this but it’s still a scam) is that they will take your credit card number and at the end of the trial they will automatically start billing your card. The onus is on the consumer to cancel the service. The model I would like to see is that no credit card be needed for the trial and at the end of the trial the vendor send an email to let you know that your trial period has ended and upon logging into your account you will be asked to enter credit card information to continue using the services. Is that so hard?

Broken Gmail Player: Please Help

In recent weeks it’s become apparent that the Gmail player that is the basis of my Gmail Player Widget no longer works. It’ll work if you are logged into Gmail and trying to listen to a file sent to your Gmail but it no longer plays a file when called from outside Gmail (as my widget does). I’ve tried to research the issue but nobody has written about it (which I find funny considering the number of people who wrote about the player when it was first discovered). I’ve played with the code a bit to see if different combinations of code work but have been unable to get it to work again. If anybody has any information about the player that may help me please let me know. Thanks.
