7-Eleven Becomes Kwik-E-Mart

20th Century Fox and 7-Eleven are running a great cross promotion for The Simpsons Movie. They’ve taken twelve 7-Elevens around the United States and Canada and given them makeovers so they look like Kwik-E-Marts, the convenience store in The Simpsons TV show. They didn’t just make them over. They also added actual products available at the Kwik-E-Mart as well as, obviously, Simpsons merchandise. You can buy a Squishee or a can of Buzz Cola, among other things. It’s all done very well right down to the people working their wearing the same jacket that Kwik-E-Mart proprietor Apu Nahasapeemapetilon wears on the show.

I’m fortunate enough to work relatively close to the one in New York City so I went for a visit last week. While I was there I took some pictures with my camera phone.

I’m Going to See The Police!

I mentioned in a previous post that I’m a Police fan. My brothers and I were influenced by the Police in our teens after each of us found our way to their music separately. On August 5th my brothers and I will head out to Giants Stadium to see the boys play. We’re all very excited.

For any other Police fans who may be looking for tickets I have added a new sidebar item that links to ticket sales of upcoming shows. I hope someone finds it useful.

Tech and the Washington Nationals

A recent issue of PC Magazine ran an article that involved two of my favorite things: baseball and technology. The article described how the Washington Nationals are using technology in ticket sales, especially for season ticket holders to resell tickets they’re not going to use. Pretty cool stuff.

Prepaid iPhone Option

One of the knocks against the way the Apple iPhone has been implemented is the commitment to AT&T Wireless. You’ll need to commit to a 2 year service agreement with a minimum $59.99 monthly fee (before taxes and other charges) with AT&T in order to use your iPhone which you will already be spending at least $499 to acquire. A co-worker tipped me off to the idea that there was a loophole where you could actually use an AT&T GoPhone plan with the iPhone. I did some Google searching and came up with the following links for more information:
