Mora Did Nothing Wrong
I was appalled by the news that football commentator Jim Mora Sr., former head coach of the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, had to resign from his job with Fox Sports Radio after making comments about Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. Mora, whose son Jim Mora Jr. is currently the Falcons head coach, agreed with his radio partner that Vick was a “coach killer”.
It worries me a little bit because my son is the head coach down there. But he’s a great athlete, my son likes him a lot, he’s a good kid. But he’s not a passer. And you need a passer at quarterback to be successful consistently in the National Football League. And he ain’t getting it done in that category.
Why does his resignation appall me so? Because all he did was his job. It’s his job to comment on NFL related issues. So there was absolutely nothing wrong with his comments. People may or may not agree with him but that’s alright. He wasn’t being paid to have everyone agree with him. He was being paid to comment about the NFL.
