A Conversation With A Former Coworker
I had an interesting discussion with a former co-worker last week. We met while working together at a particular company that I was very unhappy with. The company had a habit of mistreating their employees in various ways. When I left the company I told co-workers that I had a good opportunity that I felt was a good next step for my career and did not say anything about my displeasure with the company.
Now, several years later, I’m talking with this former co-worker and she mentions that she left the company because she was unhappy with the way they were dealing with her. I had no idea that she had the same issues that had pushed me to leave the company.
The moral of the story is that if a company is going to mistreat employees then the employees will realize it and leave on their own. Even if the employees don’t talk about it amongst themselves the good employees will go their own way.
