Tweeting to Google Buzz
Earlier this week Google introduced Google Buzz. Buzz is a way to make GMail a bit more than just a cool email engine. It’s Google’s way of making it more like a social network. You can see other people’s Buzz statuses and comment on them.
Buzz is tightly integrated with in the GMail design. Just under GMail’s Inbox link on the left side of the page is the Buzz link. Click it and you’re transported to your Google Buzz feeds.
One of the things Google included in Buzz is the ability to monitor your feeds from other social networking services. One of those services is Twitter. To add your Twitter feed to your Buzz feed use the following steps:
- Click the “connected sites” link next to your username above the the posting box. This link will probably have a number next to it representing how many, if any, other networks you’re connected to.
- In the “Connected sites” box that appears click the “Add” button next to the Twitter icon.
- Enter your Twitter username in the box provided and click the Connect button.
- The Twitter area of the “Connected sites” box will expand revealing a “Username” box. Enter your Twitter username in this box and click the “Connect” button.
- Save your profile.
Now your Tweets should be included in your Buzz feed.
Bear in mind that in my testing it takes a while (up to 12 hours) for tweets to make it into Buzz. If this feature is going to be even remotely useful it will need to be much quicker.
